Tour of John Lewis Glass
This exciting tour of John Lewis Glass will include a glass casting demonstration.
John Lewis Glass has created cast glass sculptures all over California and across the United States. As a graduate student in architecture at UC Berkeley, John Lewis was introduced to blown glass by professor Marvin Lipofsky. Lewis founded the first private hot glass studio in California and later received his MA in design in 1970. His early work in blown glass led to an interest in glass casting. With the help of an NEA grant, he built an experimental facility to explore the possibilities of cast glass. At his state-of-the-art casting studio in Oakland, California, Lewis designs and produces cast glass sculpture, tables, vessels, and site specific architectural projects. He has completed numerous commissions for private and corporate clients and is represented internationally by galleries.
Come join us for an extraordinary experience as we tour his studio. He’ll also show us a slide show of a retrospective of his works.
We will meet at the Oakland Studio at 10229 Pearmain St. Oakland, CA. at 5:30 PM for refreshments and networking and begin the tour at 6:00 PM.
Parking will be available in the company lot.
