Tour of The Contemporary Jewish Museum
The Contemporary Jewish Museum which opened on June 8th of this year was designed by the well known architect, Daniel Libeskind. Its unique architecture with a large blue cube standing on one end parallels a museum that represents the cultural and historical aspect of Judaism. The Museum is a constant representation with rotating exhibits that depict a panorama of Jewish Culture and Art.
We will have a choice of two docent led tours: Genesisan installation exploring the book of Genesis from a variety of artists’ perspectives; and Warhol’s portraits of well known Jewish personalities. Both tours include the architecture of the museum. If time permits you may see both exhibits.
We will meet at 5:30 PM in front of the museum in the Jessie Square plaza on Mission Street, so as not to block the Museum entrance.
When responding, please let us know which tour is preferred and we will line you up accordingly. The tours will be staggered from 5:30 to 7:15. The museum closes at 8:00 PM.
Afterwards, for those interested, some of us are meeting at Amber, the new Indian restaurant next door at 25 Yerba Buena Lane for a no host bar. For dinner reservations call 415 777-0500.
Come join us for this unique evening.
